You are invited to Bree’s Cause Tuesday Happy Hour, hosted by Dacha Beer Garden Navy Yard, benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma society for blood cancer research.

Meet Bree, a now 31 year old Speech and Language Pathologist in DC who is apart of the LGBTQ+ community and loves to travel! In June 2023, at just 29 years old, Bree was diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma of the cervix. Her doctors were in shock because they’ve never seen anything like it before. Lymphoma usually occurs in the lymph nodes, and not in organs. Her oncologists told her that she was “lucky” because they caught it early. Bree had to undergo one month of radiation therapy and three surgeries as a part of her treatment plan. She also took it upon herself to see a naturopath doctor and receive holistic treatments proven by research to assist in healing cancer. However, Bree's treatment plan was merely experimental, as there is no “gold standard” for curing the type of lymphoma she had. Since radiation, Bree has lost the ability to carry and bear her own children since the radiation impaired contraction of muscles need to do so. Eight months later, Breanna was deemed “cancer free” as there were no more traces of cancer in her body according to the PET scan. However, she is not yet in official “remission”, as remission would be when she is cancer free for at least 5 years. Her fight is not over!

There has been a rise in so many new and rare cases of Leukemia and Lymphoma that are developing in young adults and children since 2020! No one understands the cause or reason why these numbers have been spiking over the past few years. There continues to be limited research on these rare types of blood cancers. Patients are simply guinea pigs and test dummies that will or will not be a success story in some research paper one day. For my Birthday this year, it would mean a lot if you all could support TEAM BREE in the “DC Light of the Night” blood cancer walk to raise money for cancer research. A $20 donation will get you a wrist band for extended happy hour pricing. All proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
