What Is the Sip & Sculpt Workshop at Dacha Shaw?
Sip & Sculpt is a relaxed, beginner-friendly pottery workshop set inside Dacha Beer Garden Shaw in Washington DC. The session is hosted by Pottery with a Purpose, an experienced instructor-led studio that brings all clay, tools, and materials so guests arrive with nothing but themselves.
The workshop runs Thursday, September 10th from 6:30–8:30 PM at Dacha Shaw, 1600 7th Street NW. No pottery experience is needed, and the format welcomes solo guests, friend groups, and first-timers equally.
What You Will Learn and Take Home
Instructors walk participants through foundational hand-building techniques including pinch pots and coils, then guide guests in shaping functional pieces such as mugs, bowls, vases, or planters. Surface details like handles and texture are also covered.
Every attendee leaves with a one-of-a-kind piece (or two) built by hand during the session. All supplies are provided by Pottery with a Purpose, so there is nothing to bring or prepare in advance.

Pottery 101 Techniques
